Event description
In a world where young people are spending more time online than ever before, the stories we see—and the voices behind them—matter. The Young Women’s Film Academy champions film as a powerful tool for challenging inequality and amplifying the experiences of women and girls across the globe. As digital spaces continue to be flooded with misogynistic content and harmful stereotypes, it has never been more important to equip young creators with the skills to respond, resist, and rewrite the narrative.
This dynamic, hands‑on workshop invites participants to explore how filmmaking can inspire social change, celebrate women’s lived experiences, and push back against the growing influence of the online “manosphere.” Through guided activities, collaborative discussion, and practical film‑making exercises, you’ll discover how creative storytelling can expose injustices, uplift underrepresented voices, and spark real conversations within your community.
Whether you’re a seasoned young filmmaker or picking up a camera for the first time, you’ll work with industry mentors to plan, shoot, and edit a short film that champions gender equality in 2026. Together, we’ll imagine new futures, challenge old ideas, and create work that speaks truth to power.
Come along, get inspired, and make a film that helps us take down the manosphere—one frame at a time!
