Event description
Join us at Arts Centre Washington this Halloween for a screening of Ken Russell’s campy and macabre cult classic – The Lair of the White Worm.
Set in the English countryside, it follows two brothers, Angus and Dorcas Flint, who discover a series of unsettling events surrounding a local legend of a serpent-like creature. As they delve deeper into the mystery, they encounter the enigmatic Lady Sylvia Marsh, whose sinister connection to the ancient creature threatens the entire village.
The Lair of the White Worm is loosely based on Bram Stoker’s 1911 gothic novel of the same name, which draws inspiration from the ancient local folktale of the Lambton Worm.
After the screening, we will be joined for a performance by County Durham-based folk punk quintet – Driven Serious.
About Driven Serious:
North-East punk-folk outfit Driven Serious has been gigging in the North East and beyond since 2011.
The band’s first album, The Importance of Being Serious, was released in 2013, and followed in 2016 with the Ballad of Bones EP, featuring new music as well as live tracks from headlining gigs at the Cluny in Newcastle and the Twisted Lip in Middlesborough. In 2022, this was followed by their second album, Look On These Works.
