Event description
Join us at Arts Centre Washington this November for a screening of Jairus McLeary and Gethin Aldous’ intensely empathetic insight into hardened men undergoing a profound transformation – The Work.
Inside California’s infamous Folsom State Prison, inmates and members of the public come together twice a year to take part in an intensive four-day therapy retreat. As each man confronts his past, a space opens for shared vulnerability, compassion and healing.
Offering a rare look past the clichés of prison life and its dehumanising tropes in our culture, The Work reveals the potential for catharsis, change and meaningful rehabilitation for people otherwise trapped inside the traumas of their past.
