Event description

With SFX Artist Vicky Sandison

Step behind the scenes of movie magic and discover how the world’s goriest on‑screen illusions are brought to life! Join acclaimed special effects make‑up artist Vicky Sandison for an exciting, hands‑on workshop that plunges you into the art of bruises, cuts, scrapes, and all things delightfully gruesome.

Using only a small selection of accessible materials and beginner‑friendly techniques, Vicky will guide you through the process of transforming ordinary skin into the kind of shockingly realistic injuries you see in films and TV. From creating convincing bruising and swelling to crafting cuts, wounds, and blood effects, you’ll learn how SFX artists trick the eye and build drama through make‑up alone.

Perfect for aspiring make‑up artists, horror enthusiasts, young filmmakers, or anyone curious about the secrets behind cinematic illusions, this workshop blends creativity with technical skill in a fun and supportive environment. By the end, you’ll have the confidence to design your own grisly masterpieces—whether for stage, screen, cosplay, or pure artistic experimentation.

Prepare to get messy, think creatively, and explore the art of visual storytelling through special effects. Not for the faint‑hearted!
