Event description

“It is ridiculous to pretend that you have any agency over your fate. I stumbled into freelance cartooning for The Spectator in 1990. I managed to get published in Private Eye for the first time in 1994. In 2006 I became the editorial page cartoonist for the Newcastle Journal.

The pandemic brought my career as a cartoonist to an abrupt end, so I did what Van Gogh did in 1885 and learned how to paint in oils by using vases of flowers as my subjects.”
