An installation by Clive Davis, exploring ideas about identity, the world and our place in it.
Incorporating various parts of the Centre.
From the artist:
This exhibition explores themes and ideas I’ve been playing with and developing over several years. They include awareness of space, ourselves, time, identity, signs, symbols and a questioning of how the world is presented to us. This usually manifests in photographs, videos and objects. In this exhibition, I use photographs and ‘Red Squares’.
The ‘Red Squares’ began with an event I devised in 2022 for 4 artists – from Canada, Norway and UK. This link shows the event and development.
The exhibition also looks at the idea of art in places you normally don’t think art would be. This recurrs frequently in my art. See Flatmen, Shed, Signs, discovered or found, where nothing much becomes a thing, where the ‘everyday invisible’ becomes visible.
By incorporating various parts of the centre, I hope visitors will experience a sense of place, of playfulness and questioning, rather then be passive viewers.
