Event description
The Ballad of the Crocodile of the Underpass was a creative project that marked 60 years of Washington New Town through podcasts, original music, visual art, and a commemorative publication.
This evocative new film, produced by Von Fox Media, captures the voices and memories of local residents and artists who shaped the project. Blending oral history, storytelling, and original music, it offers a heartfelt portrait of a community coming together to celebrate its past and present.
Featuring songs written and performed by acclaimed musicians David Brewis and Paige Temperley, the documentary showcases the full scope of the project—drawing inspiration from the tradition of classic radio ballads and brought to life by Washington’s own artists and community members.
From the final live performance to the podcasts and publication, the work stands as a powerful testament to the creativity and connection that flourish when communities collaborate.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with The Crocodile Collective—our brilliant group of community podcasters who helped bring the story to life.
