An exhibition of paintings by local artist Karen Hughes.

“This collection is a reflection of recovery, growth and the quiet strength it takes to begin again.

Following a period where my world felt heavy and colour seemed distant, painting became more than creativity—it became therapy. Every brushstroke, splash of paint and layer of texture became a way of expressing emotions that words could never fully capture.

Colour represents hope. Movement represents change. The butterflies woven throughout the collection symbolise transformation—the gentle reminder that even after our darkest seasons, we are capable of becoming something new.

My work isn’t about perfection. It embraces the beauty found in chaos, celebrating freedom, resilience and the courage to rediscover yourself.

I hope these paintings encourage you to pause, feel something deeply, and perhaps see a little of your own journey reflected within them.”
