Event description
As part of The Bright Lights Youth Arts Festival, the Film Shorts Showcase celebrates the creativity, imagination, and technical skill of the region’s most exciting emerging filmmakers. This special event brings together a vibrant mix of short films made by talented young people from across the North East, offering audiences a fresh look at the stories and perspectives shaping the next generation of cinema.
The evening will feature brand‑new work from groups including the Washington Young Film Makers Collective, the Young Women’s Film Academy, Beacon Films, and many other youth-led creative projects. From laugh‑out‑loud comedies and atmospheric thrillers to thought‑provoking dramas and experimental pieces, the programme highlights a diverse range of genres, styles, and voices.
Whether you’re a film lover, a supporter of local talent, or simply curious to see what young creatives are producing, this showcase promises an inspiring and entertaining experience. Everyone is welcome, though please note that some films may contain themes or scenes not suitable for very young children.
Come along, celebrate youth creativity, and discover the filmmakers of tomorrow!
