Event description
Callum O’Neil ‘Almost A Decade’
plus support Kayden Turner and Daniel Maple
Drawing on his own experiences and emotions, Callum O’Neil is a young singer-songwriter from Washington whose music combines the intimacy of bedroom pop with the uplifting energy of indie rock. At just 18, Callum has already established himself as one of the North East’s most promising emerging artists, crafting honest, relatable songs that connect deeply with audiences. His songwriting is rooted in real-life stories and feelings, creating music that is both personal and universally resonant.
Callum’s musical journey began when he picked up a guitar at the age of nine, developing his skills through the Right Track Young Musicians project here at Arts Centre Washington. His talent was recognised in 2024 when he won Sunderland Music City’s Christmas Songwriting Competition with his original song You’re All I Need This Christmas, which he later recorded with Barry Hyde of The Futureheads.
Inspired by songwriters such as Sam Fender and Ed Tullet, Callum creates thoughtful, carefully crafted music that reflects both the challenges and joys of everyday life. Following support from the We Make Culture Next Steps programme, he released his debut single, Useless Time, and celebrated with a sold-out headline show at The Ship Isis.
With new music on the horizon and a growing reputation for heartfelt songwriting and engaging live performances, Callum O’Neil is an exciting new voice emerging from the North East music scene. We are excited to host Callum’s next headline show here where it all began at Arts Centre Washington.
Support comes from Kayden Turner and Daniel Maple
