Event description
Butterfly is an exciting new piece of theatre created especially for this year’s Bright Lights Youth Festival. Brought to life by performers from Sunderland College and Arts North Studios, this original production takes a bold and imaginative look at this year’s theme, relationships.
Over a couple of months, the cast have collaborated to devise a vibrant, multi‑layered show that captures what it means to grow up in a world full of connection and complication. Butterfly moves through a series of inventive scenes, weaving together drama, movement, music, and moments of comedy as it explores the many relationships that shape young people today. From family ties and friendships to dating, self-image, social media pressures, and the hopes and worries tied to both past and future, the show reflects the real experiences of its young creators with honesty and flair.
Dynamic, heartfelt, and packed with creativity, Butterfly celebrates the voices of young artists and the stories that matter to them.
