Event description
Join the National Glass Centre Learning Team this summer for a 3-day workshop that’s simply super.
Our Summer Superheroes workshop, suitable for children aged 7+, includes the opportunity to try your hand at 2D and 3D art making, science, design, glass blowing demonstrations and storytelling.
Conduct a series of science experiments to discover and explore some of the magical properties within glass, and, inspired by these experiments, create a new superhero. Make your own superhero costume that you will be able to parade through the galleries at the end of the final session.
This costume will involve a mask, a cape, and a superhero gadget, all designed to defeat your hero’s nemesis. This super villain will be on display throughout your visit and has been designed by the Learning Team, based on glass artwork within our collection…and that’s not all, all of the amazing designs created during the workshop will feature in a digital exhibition which will feature on our website.
The workshop programme will run:
Day 1: Tuesday 22 July
Morning: Science experiments inspired by glass and glass blowing demo.
Afternoon: Begin developing the character of your superhero.
Day 2: Wednesday 23 July
