Important Visitor Notice

From Sunday 16 March 2025, National Glass Centre will close on Sundays.

This will bring it in line with the opening hours of other galleries and museums across the city. National Glass Centre remains open with our usual programme of exhibitions and activities Monday-Saturday.

Additionally, in line with the new opening hours, Glass Yard Café will also close on Sundays and offer a revised menu on Mondays.

Please wear full shoes, not sandals or open toes for this activity. It would be helpful to wear old clothes or bring an apron with you.

Event description

This two-day class is for anyone who would like to learn flameworking skills either as a one-time experience, or to learn a new technique that you can add to your skill set in your creative practice.

  • Day 1: We will practice a number or flameworking techniques in solid glass and one small blown item.
  • Day 2: We will use the skills learned in day one to create your very own small sculpture using. The majority of this form will be solid clear glass.

There will be a break for lunch each day between 12:30pm – 1:30pm.
