Event description
Join us at Port Independent this November for a screening of Rose Glass’s electrifying steroid-fulled neo-noir – Love Lies Bleeding.
Reclusive gym manager Lou falls hard for Jackie, an ambitious bodybuilder headed through town to Las Vegas in pursuit of her dream. But their love ignites violence, pulling them deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family.
Revenge thriller; body horror; pitch black comedy, Glass’s second film trades windswept North Yorkshire for sunbleached New Mexico in this surreal, sapphic bloodbath that places her at the forefront of genre-bending cinema.
This screening is part of This Woman’s Work – a new, monthly programme of screenings highlighting world cinema’s greatest female filmmakers.
As part of our season focusing on Rose Glass, we will also be screening Saint Maud.
Sunderland Film Club is supported by Film Hub North, with National Lottery funding on behalf of the BFI Film Audience Network, and Cinema for All’s Glow Scheme. The programme is funded by the BFI, awarding funds from the National Lottery.
