We’re inviting members of Future Creatives to take part in a creative opportunity called a Micro Commission. This is a chance for you to produce something creative and be rewarded for your work.

Choose from one of the short creative briefs below: these are just simple statements or questions designed to set you thinking creatively. You can respond to in any way you chooseThis could be by making a piece of music, writing, visual art, animation, photography, film, dance, textiles, poetry, ceramics, print, or something entirely your own.

If you’d like to respond, just submit a short form telling us about your idea. If accepted, you’ll have time to create your piece, and once we’ve seen it, we’ll thank you with a £50 voucher.

There’s no “right” answer. We’re interested in your imagination, your voice, and how you choose to express yourself creatively.

Choose from one of the following titles for your creative idea:

  • A Message to my Future Self
  • Welcome to this Corner of my World
  • Beneath the Surface
  • What Belonging Feels Like

What Next?

If you would like to create something inspired by one of the prompts above, follow these steps:

  • Complete the short form
  • If your idea is given the okay, we will get back to you with a date to submit your work (usually at least 6 weeks). See our FAQs for more information on submitting work.
  • Once we receive your work, we will thank you with a £50 gift voucher

Why Should I Respond?

Artists are often asked to submit proposals, ideas and responses so that they can have their work commissioned. This is great practice for you!

You can use this opportunity as experience on your CV or as part of a portfolio.

You get rewarded for doing something you love.

Future Creatives  is a free club that is part of Culture Start – a programme which helps as many young people in Sunderland as possible take part in free creative experiences.
